This view of the Saint Croix riverbank is from the William O'Brien State Park in Minnesota. Photographed on an early October visit, I was captivated by the soft light filtering among the leaves and the intense blue waters reflected from a clear bright cloudless sky. The trinity of trees hugging the shore and the contrasting carpet of pine needles perfectly rounds out the composition and color harmony.
