Chicago
acrylic on canvas
56"x66"
2020

Chicago has been my home for over 40 years. This is not one of my shaped map paintings, but it suggested the title to me more as a parting thought as I am relocating to Saint Paul, Minnesota. Chicago has grids everywhere and that has informed all of my abstract painting construction from the beginning to the present. Chicago has parks scattered throughout, and Chicago has rivers which mean that bridges are built on every major street. Maybe it's not too literal a representation of the city I have called home, but it just felt like it fit.
