acrylic on panel
47"h x 32"w x 2"d

A new painting that adds to an occasional series featuring state map shapes. Here, the shape is altered, but instantly recognizable to any fellow Hoosier, former or otherwise. I was thinking of winter snow, and this painting was done as a pair to "Excavation". I often work in pairs, with one piece riffing off the other as a complement or as an opposite. Excavation was dark, and so this with its "snow" cover is all light. Formal embellishments create the active interest and the illusion of space as well as a curious inconsistency of logic. This is not a reflection on any of my Indiana friends and family.
