9 Stations of the Cross – Project for First Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chicago IL

These nine stations are edited from the fourteen stations in common use. The choice of nine was made to fill the nine prayer station frames that were previously constructed for the church which held illustrations for nine petitions of the Lord's Prayer. The first eight Stations of the Cross were chosen because they depict the scenes found recorded in the synoptic Gospels. This series then adds an unusual ninth Resurrection station. It is in no way a spoiler to the story. Because I believe that any recollection of Jesus’ way of the cross to his death cannot be truthfully told by withholding its conclusion: his resurrection victory over that cross and all death.
